The Unbrides

a web based cocktail hour

Does anyone in the Midwest have any ideas for good local honeymoon getaways? The more that I think about it, San Fran/Napa Valley might be too expensive. We spent about $2K there for a long weekend last year. If we're going to drop $5K for a week, we might as well go away for real. I'm trying to think of some driveable options for getaways, but the end of October is really cutting it close for outdoor activities. And I could only stare at pretty leaves so much. Also, from what I've seen online, most of the hotels in Wisconsin and Michigan are too frilly and bed and breakfast-y. Any thoughts?

Have you looked for a cottage in Wisconsin or Michigan? What about the Smokey Mountains- that isn't too far... Wait a minute- didn't you decide to go to Costa Rica?

You might want to look into Michigan, there is suppose to be some area in there that is suppose to be like a little Hamptons. I had looked into it once and it looked nice. I can not think of the name right now, but check the Michigan visitors bureau.
Also my friend celebrated their anniversay in the Catskills in Tennesse and said it was cheap and nice.

Here are some places, not frilly or bed and breakfast-y, never been but i want to! It would be so nice in October sitting by the fireplace.

We honeymooned in Wyoming, at Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons! It was amazing, and so affordable. We rented a private cabin for what I think was around $150 a night, maybe less. Let me know if you want more info! I can send you some links.
